Summary – Brief
Meetings and consultations were held
regarding funding, increased
membership and the ACARs for the
AFRO-CAA.

summary of activities is given below).

1. a) Consultant was
engaged to assist on legal

b) He conducted
extensive meetings in West Africa
and a follow up meeting is to follow
shortly from the AFRO-CAA.
2. Consultations on the need for
a Board meeting and more funding
were held with Libya.

Programme
Follow-up/Marketing
ACARs
and funding programs remain on track
but still awaiting inputs from
interested parties especially on the
allocation of funds to States for
their existing programs.
D SADC, EAC, IATA, ECA,
AFRAA
1)
The East African Community
Civil Aviation Safety and Security
Oversight Agency (EAC-CASSOA)
invited the AFRO-CAA to their
aviation symposium scheduled to mark
the tenth anniversary of the EAC.
The
AFRO-CAA has now undertaken to get
actively involved in supporting and
sharing information with regional
bodies such as CASSOA across the
continent.
2)
AFRAA continues to invite the
AFRO-CAA to its meetings where
increased exposure can be achieved.
E MOUs Development
Interested African States have
forwarded the MOUs for approval to
their appropriate authorities. This
is a lengthy process but we were
assured it is given due diligence by
all member states given the urgency
required to prove the aviation
record in Africa.
F AFCAC/NEPAD/ICAO
AFCAC continues to invite the AFRO-CAA
to its meetings where increased
exposure can be achieved.
G Legal
Some member states were requested to
comment on the extensive proposed
ACARs posted on the AFRO-CAA website
having had time to peruse some the
chapters.
H Funding
Funds
were secured from member states for
continued support of ongoing
programs and further engagement with
potential donors.
I Any other Business
1)
Visits are scheduled to all
member states commencing in February
2010.
2)
It will be proposed that
funds from donors be committed to
the following:
i)
Training Aviation Authority
personnel in
member states.
ii) Enhancing
existing programs already underway
among member states.
iii) Supporting
regional bodies harmonization
efforts in coordination with any
current initiatives.
