A Summary – Brief
The ACAA has made
considerate progress with
various African states and
international
organizations. To garner
support for the AFRO-CAA.
A summary of activities is
given below:
B Meetings
1. The 17th
AFCAC Plenary was attended
in Midrand South Africa.
The Plenary on behalf of the
African States and the AU
voted the project as viable
for the continent.
2. Meetings have
been held with the Director
of Civil Aviation of Namibia
briefing him on this
progress made with AFCAC.
3. The Ministry of
Works, Transport and
Communication’s Under
Secretary of Administration
who was detailed to request
the AFCAC vote has also been
briefed on the outcome. The
AFRO-CAA program and MOU
brochure was similarly
discussed in South Africa
with the following Civil
Aviation personnel:

C Program Follow-up/
Marketing
1. The ACAA (Pty)
Ltd received positive
responses from Cameroon,
Nigeria and South Africa in
which they agreed in
Principal to support the
project.
2. Egypt, Ethiopia
and Libya stated they wanted
to study the document
further before issuing their
response.
3. The ACAA (Pty)
Ltd subsequently drew up and
published a Project
Inception Report and
distributed it to interested
States for study and
comment.

ECA, AFRAA
1. The above
mentioned multi-lateral
groups were all briefed
during Namibia’s
presentation at the AFCAC
Plenary. They will continue
to be updated on progress as
developments take place.
E MOUs Development
The MOU has been proposed
to be discussed at the first
Project Inception
I
meeting of interested
states.
F AFCAC/NEPAD/ICAO
1. AFCAC, as noted
above, has now declared the
project as viable for the
continent.
2. NEPAD has
scheduled an urgent meeting
in early August with ACAA
(Pty) Ltd in the light of
the above developments.
NEPAD has also been issued
with the Project Inception
Report.
3. The ACAA (Pty)Ltd
will be attending 35th
Session of ICAO in Montreal
(September/October) to
further lobby the project.
The following Senior ICAO
Personnel were briefed on
the project during the AFCAC
Plenary and issued with
brochures.

finalized.
The Department of Transport
(South Africa) has reacted
positively to the project
and has asked for an urgent
meeting with ACAA(Pty)Ltd in
August 2004 to further
discuss the project.
