PROGRESS REPORT NOV 2009 – JAN 2010

 

A            Summary – Brief

 

Meetings and consultations were held regarding funding.

 

(A summary of activities is given below).

 

B          Meetings

 

1.                  Consultations on the need for a Board meeting and more funding were held with Libya.

2.                  Meeting was held in Lagos regarding the offer from donors to fund the AFRO-CAA over the next several years.

                               

C         Programme Follow-up/Marketing

 

There were no new developments in this area because of the holiday season recess.

 

D         SADC, EAC, IATA, ECA, AFRAA

 

There were no new developments in this area because of the holiday season recess.

 

E          MOUs Development

 

There were no new developments in this area because of the holiday season recess.

 

F          AFCAC/NEPAD/ICAO

 

There were no new developments in this area because of the holiday season recess.

 

G         Legal

 

Nigeria submitted their recently updated regulations for perusal against the ACARs .

 

H         Funding

 

1.      Funds were secured from member states for continued support of ongoing programs and further engagement with potential donors.

2.      Donors have now agreed to actively engage and substantially fund the AFRO-CAA. Visits are scheduled to meet them together with member States.

I           Any other Business

           

1)      Visits to all member states commencing in February/March 2010 are still on schedule.

 

2)      It will be proposed that funds from donors be committed to the following:

 

i)                    Training Aviation Authority personnel in member states.

ii)                  Enhancing existing programs already underway among member states.

iii)                Supporting regional bodies harmonization efforts in coordination with any current initiatives.
